The Expo is an arena for exchanging knowledge and solutions
between cities and consortiums.
If you want to become a changemaker within the green transition, there are several good reasons why you should attend:
THE PEOPLE
At Nordic Edge Expo, you will meet other Smart City changemakers – people from different fields of expertise who share the determination, who dare to try, who cooperate in new ways.
At Nordic Edge Expo, you will learn from the very best. Inspiring conference speakers, leading within their field, will share their visions, views, and actual examples.
Nordic Edge Expo will not let you leave empty-handed. Having attended, you will be equipped with tools that enables you to be the next green transition changemaker.
Attending Nordic Edge Expo also means that you are in for a unique and possibly uplifting experience: 800 enthusiastic minds and hearts joining forces, framed by the intimacy of Stavanger and its rural surroundings.
The very first
The very first Nordic Edge Expo was staged in 2015 as a two-day event. A gathering of 500 attendees from 14 countries, with 23 exhibitors. The concept was to bring like–minded people together to find out what was happening in our cities and communities and how we could make them smarter with the developing technology available.
Early on, the goal was to make Nordic Edge Expo the leading meeting place and smart city conference in the Nordics as a driving force in developing smart, sustainable and liveable cities, on account of the strong public sector, success in innovation and business and democratic values held in the region.
Since then, we have built up the conference and exhibition to take an international position in the smart city market and putting smart city Stavanger on the map, while holding close ties with organisations from our Nordic neighbours.
Smart Happiness
In 2017, a three-day programme saw the H2020 Triangulum project join the conference programme; Stavanger being one of the main Lighthouse cities. This brought us further close ties to several other European organisations who have been dedicated partners over the years. KnowHow Edtech also joined the conference on the third day and has been a side conference every year since.
Smart with a heart
By 2018, we were up to 5000 attendees from nearly 50 countries with 200 exhibitors and introduced our ‘Start-up Village’ area in the exhibition hall for new and young companies.
Life Actually
Again, in 2019, Nordic Edge Expo was a large conference and expo. Our theme centred around how technology is be an enabler for change for the people living in our cities. The Nordic Smart City Summit joined us and showcased smart city collaborations within the Nordics.
Rethink Normality
In 2020, along with many other conferences, we went digital. Over a week, we held live conference sessions from six locations in the Nordics and Europe, multiple workshops and parallel sessions, hosted side conferences for KnowHow Edtech, Junior Achievement and in Beijing, China, reaching an audience of over 20.000.
It's tomorrow
In 2021, we held a four day hybrid event based in the very heart of Stavanger. The main conference was held on the electric ferry M/S Rygerelektra, moored along the quayside, and streamed live to over 8500 digital attendees. Workshops and side conferences were held both physically and digitally with social and learning events in the evenings in venues around the city centre.
From Awareness to Action
Citizens from both large cities and small communities all have the same basic needs. We all want to live in sustainable and green communities where children can grow up and have a safe and secure future. This binds us all. How can we contribute to the green shift together – leaving no one behind? Enough talk, we have to act!
Be the Change
In 2024 we gathered 650 changemakers from 70 cities across Europe, Asia, and the USA for the ninth Nordic Edge Expo.
This years concept and program were defined by the main theme "Be the Change." Here are the key elements of this year's event.
• A compact city concept with everything within walking distance in Stavanger city center
• An impact conference with internationally recognized speakers, and ample opportunities for networking
• Exhibitions from companies and projects integrated into the conference.
• 18 well-curated workshops inviting participation and collaboration.
• Nordic Fund Day for 150 investors who met each other and 12 companies.
• A party for 500 happy attendees, a trip to Preikestolen, and a boat tour in beautiful summer weather
